I miss Misis Tikboy

It's been three days.. I miss my wife so much. This is so much harder than I thought. I kept looking at our photos right before I boarded the plane last Wednesday.

I want to go home... she is and will always be my home..

Thanksgiving in Jersey City

This is my first time in Jersey City. My first Thanksgiving too. Buti na lang walang turkey! Hahaha! My other Tita's from Ohio and Wisconsin called me up. They let me talk to my cousins too.

Tita Vicky: I like your top.
Me: Thanks Tita. I got it in Arizona.
Tita Vicky: Really? Saan? Bagay sa 'yo. You look like a vampire.

Tawanan silang lahat. Alaskador daw talaga itong isang ito. To the rescue ang mga pinsan ko.

Anna Baby: Tita, that's called a hoodie!
Boy: Ate Beegee looks good in it.

O di ba? Mega support ang mga loko.

Me: Sa New York & Company.
Tita Vicky: Ha? Eh bakit wala akong nakikita dito? 15 minutes from NY City lang tayo ah.
Tita Vicky: Oo nga, di pa ako napupunta dun.
Me: (kabado na, namutla na nga ako) Saka na po kayo magpunta pag may bahay na ako.

Hehehe! After taking a few shots bumanat na naman ang mga lukring na tita ko..

Tita Vicky: Photogenic ni Beegee ah!
Ninang Hermie: Ang tangos pa ng ilong niyan!
Tita Vicky: I like your hair.
Hehehe!

Anna Baby: You know what? She's my mom's favorite. She didn't even bother giving me that Gucci watch. It has diamonds in it.
Patrick: Really?
Me: I heard that!
Anna Baby: It's true Ate. Mommy likes you better than all of us - me, Boboy and Isay!
Me: Isn't true!
Anna Baby: Is true!

Sus, o siya. Peborit na kung peborit. Mabait kasi ako. Hahahaha!

Oo, kailangan mo 'yan.
Parang ang laki kasi eh.
Ilagay mo na sa bag mo. Pag pinatapon sa security check eh di itapon mo.
Otei.

Masunurin akong asawa eh. Dami nang okasyon at patunay diyan. Sa susunod na post na lang. Hehehe..

What does this mean? (nakaturo sa tatak na "not valid for travel to Iraq" ang loka pero nakangiti)
It simply means that Filipinos are not allowed to travel to Iraq. (hindi pa nakuntento)
Why?
It's because most of the time the Filipinos there are abused.
Oh, okay. Now I understand.. blah blah blah..

What's the contents of your bag?
A book, charger, adapter, cookie, toothbrush, toothpaste. You can take it all out if you want.
It's okay, we'll just have to run the whole again in the xray.
Okay.

Pagkadaan sa xray.

This is too big (sabay turo sa lotion).
I can just leave it. Is everthing okay now?
Yeah, sure. Enjoy your trip.

Susme! Itong lotion talaga! Hahahaha!

It's almost 15:30. At 15:55 I have to board the plane. Got to make some phone calls before that. Jersey City, here I come!

Masikip

Ngek..
Local kaya yan.
Yabangers!

My Tikboy has been bothering me with her weight issues. She is ultra concerned that she is getting big. Nag post pa nga sya di ba? Black and white talaga ang loka. May evidence, hahahahaha!

Well, is she getting big? That's the million dollar question....

Yung pwet ko ba malaki na?
Hindi naman..
Eh bat ang sikip ng pantalon ko?
(I'm now grinning here..hahahaha!)

Hahahahahahaha! Joke...joke...joke...

Twilight

My wife says that I am more like Edward Cullen of Stephanie Meyer's novels. But I will leave it up to her to enumerate our similarities.

For now let me just quote my favorite lines in the novel which I actually finished in almost one day because I made the effort to distract myself from not bothering my wife during one of her "social activities" with her friends last night.

It makes me… anxious… to be away from you.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 9, p.188

You are my life now.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 15, p.314

I love you. It’s a poor excuse for what I’m doing, but it’s still true.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 17, p.366

Could you believe that, despite everything I’ve put you through, I love you, too?
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 20, p.418

I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be right here as long as you need me.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 24, p.471

Can't wait to see the movie.

I'm into the second novel now, New Moon.

First Haircut

*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*

In fairness, ok naman kinalabasan nung gupit...

Girl Time

Define "Girl Time" between Mr & Misis Tikboy...

OMG! Nakakahawa pala ang pagiging kuripot???????

Wolverine look

I'm here for almost a month now. Thing is, she doesn't want it. So, on Monday I think we'll be going to the hairstylist.

Funny thing is, with her last visit at Walmart she got me something. This one..

Tried it yesterday and liked it. So far I am satisfied with its performance.

;)

Camera shy

Twice pwedeng magpalit ng damit during the shoot and the likes. Sus! Napailing tuloy ako at na-conscious.

Tingnan niyo itong mga 'to.. kusina pictures! Hahaha! Hekhekhek!

Turn naman niya sa kusina. Nagluluto kasi ng nilagang saging. Hehehe!

HSM 3

This is the second movie I watched here. The first one was Madagascar a few weeks ago. Misis Tikboy went home around lunchtime and said, Nuod tayo High School Musical 3 ha? I looked at her and before I could actually answer she said, O mas gusto mo ng Quantum of Solace? She must have thought that I am not into musicals. I said I like to watch musicals. Actually before we left, we were watching Hairspray on HBO. It was funny.

So, we went to Harkins Theaters and bought tickets for it. One thing that surprised me here is that you can as many refills as you want just for a single purchase. Ikaw ang magsasawa sa unlimited popcorn and drinks! When we walked into the movie house we looked around and then looked at each other with that naughty smile, Tayo lang ang tao ah. Hehehehe! We were giggling the whole time. Ang laki ng home theater natin ah! Misis Tikboy said.

After the movie I was kidding Misis Tikboy to swing at the other movie house so that we could watch Quantum of Solace. Ayoko nga! She told me. Hindi ko kaya! I was laughing out loud as we exited the area. Pwede ka kasing pumasok sa iba pang shows. Isang hall lang siya and may magbibilang during the show kung ilan ang nasa loob ng movie house. So, pwedeng-pwede kang magpalipat-lipat para mapanood ang ibang movie na isang show lang ang binayaran! Hahahaha! Sira ulo talaga ako.

Next movie to watch: Twilight. Vampire movie, hmmmm.. akong-ako 'yun. Hehehe!

Talipornia Realizations

Haaay naku, during our nakakabaliw vacation sa california, marami kaming na realize.

1. Pag nasa california, drive like a maniac kung hindi, you'll receive "the finger" when you drive.

4. Wag kalimutan itsek ang local time! May pagka ungas din kasi ako. Palibhasa walang DST sa Arizona, hekhekhek!

Kaya dapat alert, awake at oriented ka - all the time!

Bakit Kaya?

Hmmmm....

They Bring Me To You

You looked like the sun
I was the only one
who could stare until you were done shining on me
and as we drank our wine and let the world fade away
the sunrise tried to end it while we tried to stay.

The rest of my life can't compare to this night
and only the heartaches have given me sight,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you.

Moon pours through the ceiling tonight
embraces us tight
shows me we're right for each other
and as we lie here
and let the world fade away
the sunrise tries to end it while we try to stay.

The rest of my life can't compare to this night
and only the heartaches have given me sight,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you.

It's all about the first night and last,
some people say well I love you so much more tonight,
more than yesterday.

The rest of my life can't compare to this night
and only the heartaches have given me sight,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you,
they bring me to you.

I have given up finding the answers to my questions... I guess it's true that there are things that only the heart can answer.

I love you.... always have...always will....

Ice cream

I somehow got addicted to Haagen-Dazs mocha chip ice cream. I've always preferred mocha flavored ice cream than chocolate. Mahilig kasi ako sa kape. We were at the Desert Hills Premium Outlet when we bought a cup of this ice cream.

Misis Tikboy: Mahal, wala 'yung mocha chip. Ang meron dito chocolate cookie dough, saka 'yung vanilla. Gusto mo ba 'yun?
Mister Tikboy: Gusto ko sana 'yung may mocha eh.
Misis Tikboy: Sige hanapan kita. Ok lang kahit hindi Haagen Dazs? Dryers 'yung andito.
Mister Tikboy: O sige, try natin.

After a few minutes my phone rang again.

Misis Tikboy: Mahal, buksan mo nga pinto. Ayaw mag-work ng susi ko.
Mister Tikboy: *binubuksan ang pinto* Bakit ayaw gumana? Hindi naman naka dead bolt ah?
Misis Tikboy: Ewan ko!

She showed me the ice cream, a Dryers mocha almond fudge and few other things that she bought. I didn't open the ice cream at the time. Actually I forgot all about it. *wink*

I only opened the ice cream now. Mas masarap pa rin 'yung Haagen Dazs!

Oshkosh 16 for boys

We went to Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Seminole Dr, Cabazon, CA on our way back to Arizona a week ago. Desert Hills is known for its collection of 130 outlet stores of the world's leading designers and brand names. Why go here and not in the mall? Well, you can get 25% to 65% off on these items every day. That's a better deal right? Oh yeah!

Nagulat pa ako kasi kung 50% off na ang isang item, meron pang additional 20% off dun sa 50%. Saan ka pa di ba? So, my wife gave me a tour of Desert Hills. She's a regular, mind you. But she spends half of the time in only one store - Coach. I've seen her in action and boy, I haven't seen her so engrossed and passionate in one activity. Well, except for you-know-what. Hehehe!

We went to the Levi's outlet and told me to get one. She knows that Levi's is my brand. But I don't feel like getting one so I passed.

During our Nike stop, she got me two tank top running sandos. I was looking for a jog pants but I couldn't find anything that fits me. So, after getting the tank top, we left. Next stop is Oshkosh B'Gosh to get something for Gabe. Pero ang nangyari pati ako nakabili. Hehehe!

Ngek!

America 101

A must-have when you're in America - lip gloss. Hehehe! Kahit hindi ko gusto, napilitan akong gumamit!

Frozen margarita. Strawberry for me, raspberry for Misis Tikboy.

If you're going to buy alcoholic beverages make sure that you have an ID in your wallet to prove that you are 18 years old.

I am beginning to believe that everything is possible here in America. That's what my Ninang Hermie used to tell me.

Hungry? You want to eat and save at the same time? Well, the wonder of split plate is for you!

If you're going to order a meal split it up! That way you can save up. Me and Misis Tikboy call it the wonders of split plate.

My plate. Baby back rib with double mashed potato as a side dish.

My wife's plate. Baby back ribs with mashed potato and coleslaw.

While waiting for the main course at the Cowboy Grill, Dahlia (our server) brought this one and said, This is for your fingers okay? Me and Misis Tikboy burst out in laughter when Dahlia turned her back on us and started to leave. Mukha daw kasi akong bata kaya niya siguro sinabi 'yun.

Road sign 101: Double yellow means no passing on either side, broken yellow with solid yellow on your side means you are not allowed to pass.

Road courtesy, never block the drive way.

This is how you cross a street in America. You need to push a button and wait for your turn to cross the street. Don't worry, you may take all the time in the world in crossing the street. No need to run. The drivers would surely wait for you.

Hehehe!

Meet my Cactus Buddy

Here's proof that I am actually in Arizona. Meet Mr. Cactus and his buddy, the ultimate backscratcher!

My wife would surely raise her eyebrows and then laugh when she reads this post because I would definitely explain what type of cactus is shown here at my left side. Hahaha! Can't help it, I'm a professor Misis Tikboy!

What is shown above is known as the Saguaro Cactus, the largest here in America. According to my research, it actually goes up to sixty feet in height. Hmmm.. makes me look like a dwarf huh? They can be found in New Mexico and in southern Arizona. At dawn or dusk, they look like humans. Ngiiiiii! There you go, my imagination is running wild again.

And right here is the ultimate backscratcher, my Cactus Buddy! He definitely would take away your itch but would leave a mark. Hahahaha! My wife was hovering around this stuff and told me, Mahal sumimple ka nga. Kuhanan mo ng picture. Wag ka papahalata! We were laughing the whole time while at the store. Thing is, we didn't get one. Could've been a great souvenir from Sedona!

Pogi points? I'm over that

Whenever we drive around I couldn't help but say "wow" when I see a Mustang GTR or a Ducati Superbike 1198. And then my wife would give me "the look" so I would then say this:

Mr. Tikboy: I'm over it. Can I get a Hummer or a Nissan Patrol instead?
Misis Tikboy: You better! Hmp! Where will I put all the groceries in that Mustang?
Mr. Tikboy: A Hummer or a Nissan Patrol it is.

She would always tell me that she don't approve me riding a motorcycle. But she allowed me to ride one because gas is cheaper for a motorcycle. But when I was advised not to ride a motorcycle anymore because of my back problem, she beamed and said Tigilan mo na mag-motor ngarud! Well, I didn't immediately follow her order. But I made a bargain, I told her I would sell my motorcycle. Sad thing is, until now nobody's interested with my bike. It's under the custody of my youngest brother Buboy.

Aside from my back problem, the reason why she didn't want me riding one is because it adds up to my "sex appeal" or as we would normally call it pogi points kasi. That is also the reason why I couldn't have my dream car - the Mustang GTR. I got a glimpse of a live unit when I went to Frys Electronics here in Tempe. Caught it at the parking lot, it sure looks good huh!

Conclusion? I'm over collecting pogi points. So, Mustang GTR.. in my dreams man!

What's keeping me busy?

Hehehe!

Whenever my wife goes to work I am left alone in my apartment. She knows that I will get restless. But she knows me too well. She observed that I habitually look at the refrigerator and scratch my head as if I'm thinking of what to take out. So, she made sure that the fridge has a lot of food in it. Hehehe!

Nilantakan ko 'yung 4 pound strawberries at naubos ko siya within two days. Ngayon, itong grapes naman ang tina-target ko. Hmmm.. hindi kaya lumobo na ako nito? Halaaaaa! Wala pa naman akong exercise! Teka, teka.. let me take that back.. matindi pala ang exercise ko. Hehehehe! Di ba Misis Tikboy? *kindat*

Yesterday afternoon she taught me how to do laundry. I was amazed by the heavy duty washer and dryer that I used. She just smiled at me and said that I'll get used to the changes.

I sometimes forget that I am here in the US. Pag nagkukwentuhan kasi kami I often tell her "dito kasi sa Pinas" and then she would correct me, "Andito ka na sa Amerika baby." Funny, I don't feel like I'm here. Probably because I am not yet working. I'm still on vacation mode. I still drive hindi nga lang motorsiklo ang hawak ko kundi SUV. And the road signs are not the same in the Philippines. The speed limit is also different, the speedometer is in mph not kph. So, I am forced to learn everything in a short span of time. Nakukurot nga ako ni Misis Tikboy pag nagkakamali ako! But it is fun. Everyday is a learning experience for me.

I observed that drivers here in Arizona are very courteous. Those in California drive like hell. The plate numbers here in AZ are only placed at the rear part of the car. I don't know why. Most of the cars are A/T. I am not used to it, I drive a stick shift car back home and I still prefer to drive one. But I should say that cars with A/T can ba maneuvered easier and is ideal for long driving.

I am not sure if I can get a driver's license here, I'd have to go to DMV and ask if I can. Well, let's see.

Freedom of expression and Proposition 8

We went to Huntington Beach in CA a day before we drive back to AZ. On our way there I saw groups of people on the streets holding banners on Proposition 8. One group says NO and the other says YES. I was asking Misis Tikboy what it is but she isn't sure. We were actually so engrossed with each other that we seldon talk about politics and the election.
So, I observed. I took a glance at each official logo. Proposition 8 is a state initiative to ban same sex-marriages in California. I haven't been in the LGBT loop since 2002, the only thing that I'm aware of is that Ellen (my wife's got a huge crush on her) and Portia's wedding happened in California where it is allowed and San Francisco is the haven of LGBT community.

We crossed the street and saw the YES and NO groups side by side.
Mister Tikboy: Mahal, pwede dito 'yan? Nagdi-debate sila sa kalye? Buti hindi nagsasapakan? Humihingi pa ba sila ng permit?Misis Tikboy: Oo naman, freedom of speech eh. Hindi na kailangan ng permit.
Mister Tikboy: Oo nga naman, land of the free nga pala ito. Misis Tikboy: Wag nga tayo dumaan sa harap nila at baka maging example pa tayo!
Natawa tuloy ako. Magka-holding hands kasi kami. Sure, we still got the looks from people around us. But we're used to it.
